GCSE Computer Science Revision

1.2 Memory and storage

Computer memory is an essential component of a computer system that stores information and data temporarily or permanently. It is also commonly referred to as RAM (Random Access Memory). Computer memory enables a computer to access data quickly and efficiently, which makes it possible to run applications and software smoothly. Without memory, a computer would not be able to operate and perform tasks effectively. There are different types of computer memory, such as RAM, ROM (Read-Only Memory), and cache memory, each with its own unique characteristics and functions.
